Dan O'Connell for Burlington County Freeholder
Dan O’Connell brings proven leadership and the experience we need in Burlington County. Dan was raised in Burlington County, graduated from Holy Cross High School, attended Marquette University and later returned to live in Delran. Dan started his career as a locomotive fireman for the Penn Central Railroad and completed training to become a locomotive engineer for Conrail and New Jersey Transit, running passenger trains into and out of New York City.
While still working as a locomotive engineer, Dan worked part-time as an officer for the United Transportation Union. He addressed the needs and concerns of hard-working, middle-class families as he helped his fellow workers with payroll problems, health care, and retirement concerns. In 1996, Dan earned the position of State Director of United Transportation Union where he addresses the issues of its members in ten locals throughout New Jersey. At the United Transportation Union, he worked collaboratively with 45 other State Directors at the state and federal level for legislation and regulations that protected our hard working members. From contract negotiations to constituent issues, Dan uses his experience to pool resources and resolve issues.
Dan proudly serves as a current member of Burlington County’s Board of Chosen Freeholders.
