Joanne Schwartz for Burlington County Clerk
Joanne is a Semi-Retired Health Care Administrator who works as a Consultant and Administrator, experienced in compliance, turnarounds and transitions. Her work experience has spanned all aspects of the health care continuum, including Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities and Independent Housing. She is a former Probation Officer and has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at both Burlington County College and Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) where she taught courses in Sociology and Criminal Justice.
She is a life member of and former President of both the Mt. Laurel Emergency and Hampton Lakes Emergency Squads, having been an Emergency Medical Technician for almost 20 years. She is presently a Trustee of Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad. She is a former Fire Commissioner of the Mt. Laurel Fire Department.
She is a frequent guest speaker to area groups on issues facing Caregivers. She has been a speaker and panelist at numerous professional association conferences on topics related to the provision and improvement of health care services.
As Member and Officer of the Board of Trustee of the New Lisbon Developmental Center for over 25 years, she is strongly committed to being an advocate for people with special needs. She spearheaded, got funding for and led the renovation and re-dedication of the pauper’s field cemetery at New Lisbon.
She holds a B.A from Fairleigh Dickinson University and, a Master’s Degree in Education from Seton Hall University and received her teaching certification from Glassboro College in secondary education.
She has been a board member and officer of numerous not for profit community agencies which has included Settlement Houses, Health care Agencies and Community groups from which she has received awards and commendations for her service to those organizations. She is a former Burlington County Freeholder and current Democratic Committee Chairman for Southampton Township. She is a resident of Southampton Township, New Jersey.
